NMR Learning Platform

Resonance: ¹H-NMR, D₂O exchange, and ¹³C-NMR taught as an instrument — spectra, assignment, and structure elucidation.

The interface is the live product. No screenshot is shown where one was not published.

Overview

Resonance is the NMR studio. It treats the spectrometer as an instrument a chemist has to operate in their head: chemical shift, integration, exchange, and carbon spectra as one craft.

Problem

NMR teaching often stops at memorised ranges. Assignment — deciding which signal belongs to which nucleus — is the actual skill.

Solution

A public platform organised around spectra and assignment logic, including D₂O exchange and ¹³C-NMR, not only proton cheat-sheets.

Architecture

  • Public web platform at nmr.ahmedmf.online.
  • Scope: ¹H-NMR, D₂O exchange, ¹³C-NMR, and structure elucidation.

Technology stack

  • ¹H-NMR
  • ¹³C-NMR
  • D₂O exchange
  • Structure elucidation

Features

  • Spectra-first teaching rather than definition-first teaching.
  • Exchange experiments treated as evidence, not as a footnote.

Challenges

  • Making a spectroscopic craft legible on a screen without pretending the screen is the spectrometer.

Results

  • The platform is live and public.

Lessons learned

  • The quiet part of NMR — assignment — is the part worth building a product around.
